At a glance
Rockstar's Extended Look shows mission and open-world play on PS5, including Jason and Lucia played together or separately, driving, interiors, robberies, police pursuits, combat, recreation, phones, and ambient world interactions. It is real in-game footage, but it is not a final controls, HUD, performance, or complete-systems breakdown.
A system-by-system guide to the official PS5 gameplay: character switching, missions, driving, interiors, activities, police response, combat, and the limits of what the footage proves.

| Feature | Evidence and limits | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Rockstar explicitly confirmed | Rockstar says the Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, and developers confirm Jason and Lucia can be played as a couple or independently.Yes | Rockstar statement |
| Official gameplay shows | The official footage shows free-roam movement, driving, mission planning, robberies, indoor and outdoor combat, character switching, police chases, recreation, and player interaction with people, vehicles, objects, and a dog.Yes | Demonstrated action |
| Visible, but not explained | HUD prompts, slowed or focused aiming, contextual actions, body-condition changes, and dense ambient reactions are visible, but Rockstar does not explain their full rules, controls, or progression.Partial | Rules not published |
| Still unconfirmed | Rockstar has not announced final resolution or frame-rate modes, the complete control scheme, PC settings, Online functionality, crossplay, or whether every visible location and activity is freely repeatable.Unknown | No official confirmation |
The presentation moves between home life, travel, mission setup, a stash-house raid, street crime, police escape, and leisure. That supports a broad crime-sandbox loop rather than a sequence of disconnected cinematic shots.
Jason and Lucia appear both together and apart. A developer separately confirms that players can spend time with them as a couple or play them independently, which is stronger evidence than inferring character switching from edits alone.
The footage repeatedly puts the player inside apartments, stores, offices, clubs, garages, gyms, and criminal locations. Doors, cover points, counters, vehicles, phones, workout equipment, and a pet dog receive contextual interaction, but a visible prompt does not prove universal interaction across the whole map.
Rockstar describes Leonida as grounded and reactive. Developers say openly carrying a rifle draws a response and that actions have consequences; the exact simulation, witness, reputation, or persistence rules remain unstated.
The PS5 capture establishes a console source, not the final quality or performance presets. There is no official PC footage, Xbox capture comparison, frame-rate target, Online reveal, or crossplay announcement in the Extended Look.
This page treats a repeatable sequence as demonstrated only when player control is clear. Cinematic edits, background animations, and one-off story moments remain visual evidence, not promises of standalone mechanics.
Recommendation
The Extended Look supplies enough official evidence for a dedicated search guide, but visible details become confirmed mechanics only when Rockstar explains or repeatedly demonstrates their rules.
Quick answers
Yes. Rockstar says it was captured entirely from in-game footage on PS5. Some shots are edited cinematically, so the video is not a continuous uncut gameplay demo.
The footage presents both leads under player control, and a Rockstar developer says they can be played as a couple or independently. The exact switching rules are not fully explained.
No. Rockstar did not announce a frame-rate target or graphics modes for the Extended Look.
No separate GTA 6 Online mode, launch timing, player count, or crossplay feature is identified in the presentation.
The evidence comes from Rockstar's official Extended Look, Rockstar's GTA VI and Newswire pages, official platform information where relevant, and attributable Rockstar developer statements. It does not use leaks.
No. In-game footage confirms that an action or detail appears in the presented build. Rockstar can still change presentation, balance, availability, controls, or scope before release, and unexplained shots do not define complete systems.
