How many animals are in GTA 6?

Game Informer's September 29 report puts GTA 6's wildlife at more than 170 species across land, air and sea. That is a species count, not a total of individual animals. The guide below brings the new reporting together with the creatures already visible in official material.

Manatees, monkeys and more

Game Informer names flamingos, manatees, pelicans and alligators alongside green iguanas, cane toads, feral cats and rhesus macaques. Some animals can be tracked under Rare, Discoverable and Legendary categories; their identities have not been revealed.

From a woodland pool to the reef

The official images already give that variety a setting. In Mount Kalaga, deer gather around a shaded pool while large cats occupy the foreground and the far bank. Leaves, low branches and reflections fill the spaces around them: the animals belong to a whole scene, rather than a row of isolated species portraits.

Look below the surface

The Keys image takes the view underwater. A sea turtle passes in front of divers, with fish moving among coral and rocks. Sunlight reaches down from the surface, leaving the deeper corners blue. It is a useful reminder that Leonida's wildlife extends well beyond the roadside and the wetlands.

What should you expect from animal tracking?

Rare, Discoverable and Legendary give wildlife a reason to draw your attention beyond the scenery. The prospect of seeking out an unusual creature is appealing, especially across such different habitats. The report keeps those animals' identities secret, so there is no reliable location route to follow yet.

The part still to come

The sources here do not yet explain tracking rewards, a complete hunting or skinning system, animal ownership, or general attack behavior. The table is a set of examples, not the full bestiary.
