GTA 6 Animals and Wildlife: Verified Species and Interactions

At a glance

What animals and wildlife are in GTA 6?

Official GTA 6 material shows dogs, dolphins, rays, alligators, iguanas, birds, fish and other marine or coastal wildlife. The Extended Look shows the player petting a dog and swimming or diving around marine life, while a Rockstar developer explicitly mentions dolphins beside a jet ski. Hunting, taming, animal companions, wildlife attacks, and a complete species list remain unconfirmed.

A careful wildlife guide covering dogs, dolphins, rays, iguanas, alligators, birds, marine life, petting, and the hunting or companion systems Rockstar has not announced.

Species and habitats Rockstar has shown

Dogs appear in domestic and public settings; iguanas and birds occupy populated spaces; alligators represent the wetlands; dolphins, rays, fish, and other marine life appear around water activities. That mix supports a wildlife landing page with several habitat groups, not one page per species.

The official screenshot library and Extended Look complement each other: stills identify environmental variety, while in-game footage shows animals present during player movement and activities.

Confirmed and visible interactions

The player pets a dog in the Extended Look, which is a direct interaction rather than background animation. A developer also describes dolphins accompanying jet-ski travel, and underwater footage places the player near rays and fish.

Those examples do not establish that every animal can be touched, owned, fought, fed, photographed, collected, or used in a mission.

What is still only a possibility

Leonida's environment makes hunting, dangerous encounters, fishing depth, or companion animals plausible search questions, but plausibility is not confirmation. Rockstar has not named those systems.

Future updates should distinguish a species appearing in a cinematic, promotional image, ambient gameplay, or direct interaction, because each level supports a different claim.

Recommendation

Use the footage, keep the limits

The Extended Look supplies enough official evidence for a dedicated search guide, but visible details become confirmed mechanics only when Rockstar explains or repeatedly demonstrates their rules.

Quick answers

FAQ

Can you pet dogs in GTA 6?

Yes. The Extended Look shows a player-controlled dog-petting interaction.

Are dolphins in GTA 6?

Yes. A Rockstar developer explicitly mentions dolphins during jet-ski travel, and official footage shows marine wildlife.

Are alligators in GTA 6?

Alligators appear in official Rockstar material associated with Leonida's wetlands. Their full behavior and danger rules are not explained.

Is hunting confirmed?

No. Rockstar has not announced a hunting, skinning, trapping, or wildlife-progression system.

What sources does this guide use?

The evidence comes from Rockstar's official Extended Look, Rockstar's GTA VI and Newswire pages, official platform information where relevant, and attributable Rockstar developer statements. It does not use leaks.

Is everything shown a final launch feature?

No. In-game footage confirms that an action or detail appears in the presented build. Rockstar can still change presentation, balance, availability, controls, or scope before release, and unexplained shots do not define complete systems.
